World Book Day (April 23rd) is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing and copyright. On this day, Mega hardware stores Kooyman Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire invited the Dutch-Caribbean community to nominate organizations and foundations that work with children to receive a copy of Hearty.
As nominations poured in, requests to include Kooyman Bonaire was also received and accepted. In Aruba, organizations such as Tra’i Merdia (after school program), Casa Cuna (children’s home society), Bon Nochi Drumi Dushi (foundation dedicated to promote reading at home), YMCA Dakota and San Nicolas, Kiwanis Club of Aruba, Polieklieniek Kindergeneeskunde (pediatric ward), among others, were selected to receive a copy of Hearty. In Curaçao, organizations such as Child First Foundation, Happy Villa Curaçao (enrichment center), Pedagogia Kinderopvang (daycare), Huize Sint Jozef (children’s home society), Stichting Felis (after school program), Casa Manita (children’s home society), among others, were selected to receive a copy of Hearty.
Kooyman Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire expressed their pride and honor to be able to contribute to the development of our children by means of a story with a profound message on self-worth.
We were thrilled Kooyman participated in this national giveaway celebrating World Book Day 2019 on the ABC islands.
